Pollinator Garden
On Sunday, April 12, our team planted the new perennials on our garden space in front of the memorial garden. These replaced the little cabbages that were planted as a soil treatment. Our leader, landscape designer Laura Willer, had previously retested the soil and found it was still too rich in phosphorous to sustain our new plants. So, on Laura’s recommendation, we replaced the soil. Laura volunteered her gardener assistant to dig out the old soil and fill it with the new.
The perennials we planted include that day included:
Lemon Mexican Giant Hyssop
Grape Crush New England Aster
American Goldfinch False Indigo
Burgundy Blast False Indigo
Henry’s Garnet Virginia Sweetspire
White Cloud Muhly Grass
Black-eyed Susan
Come by and visit as things start to blossom and our pollinators find their way to their breakfast in front of the columbarium.
