CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
St. Michael’s has a thriving children’s ministry that nurtures and teaches our youngest members. We offer a dynamic range of programming for children from birth through fifth grade, including: nursery care, Sunday school, children’s chapels, Holy Communion curriculum, family events and more.

WEEKLY OFFERINGS DURING THE PROGRAM YEAR
Our Sunday School and Nursery are located on the lower level of the church. You may access the downstairs through the Main Lobby of the Parish Hall or through the Narthex of the church.
Sunday Nursery Care
Babies — 2 years
Nursery Care is available on Sundays from 9:45 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. (Hours correspond with our 10 a.m. worship service and Adult Forum.) Our nursery provides a loving and safe environment for infants (6 weeks) through children age 2.

Sunday School
2 years — 5th grade
Sunday school for ages 2 through 5th grade is held on Sunday mornings from 9:35 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. (during the 10 a.m. worship service and Adult Forum). The Sunday program consists of Bible stories, children’s chapel and outside play/craft time. Each group learns of God’s love through story, music and activity.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CURRICULUM & CHILDREN’S CHAPELS
Sunday School Curriculums
AGE 2 TO KINDERGARTEN
Children will hear Bible stories from the Spark Bible and learn through play, chapel, story time, music and prayer.
1ST TO 3RD GRADE
Children enjoy Godly Play lessons from a team of teachers. Godly Play helps children explore their faith through story and imagination. After each story, “I wonder” questions help guide children to revisit the story and what they have learned.
4TH AND 5TH
Children combine classes and work from Sermons For Kids, a lectionary-based story focused on the gospel. Children will hear the story, and engage in worksheets and crafts each Sunday.
Children’s Chapels
ALL ANGELS CHAPEL
All Angels Chapel is for children ages 2 through kindergarten. Children participate in All Angels Chapel during their parents’ worship time. Leaders instruct our youngest parishioners on how to sit quietly, how to kneel and how to pray. Children serve as ushers, acolytes and flag bearers.
BECKWITH CHAPEL
Children in 1st through 3rd grade begin their worship with parents, then recess to Beckwith Chapel during the Sequence Hymn. Beckwith Chapel has been conducted at St. Michael’s for grade-school children for 70 years. Here children extend their knowledge of worship, in story and song. Children serve as crucifers, flag bearers and ushers.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Throughout the year, events are scheduled to provide fun and fellowship for our children and their families. Yearly events have included: Blessing of the Backpacks, family service projects, Advent Dinner, Christmas Pageant and Vacation Bible School (VBS).
BAPTISM
Welcoming the new into a life with Christ — whether they be babies or adults — is among the most important sacraments of the church. As Christ Himself was baptized, so may all who wish to enter into a new relationship with Him. Infant and adult baptisms are held throughout the year.
